Embedding Schemes and the Jordan Curve Theorem
1990We survey several combinatorial embedding schemes that encode and generalize the concept of a map, and attempt to unify them. We also show that two combinatorial generalizations of the Jordan curve theorem arising from such schemes are in fact equivalent.

Connectedness and the Jordan Curve Theorem
2015The notion of polygonal connectedness is introduced. It is shown to be an equivalence relation. Convex sets are shown to be connected. The equivalence of connectedness with the non-existence of discretely valued non-constant continuous functions is shown. An elementary proof of the Jordan Closed-Curve theorem is given.
