Long‐term mechanical properties of hybrid fiber‐reinforced engineered cementitious composite

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Hybrid fiber‐reinforced engineered cementitious composites (hybrid ECC) employing short straight polyethylene (PE) and steel fibers have attracted growing interest in engineering applications due to their superior strength and ductility. In most studies, the mechanical properties of hybrid ECC were determined based on samples cured for 28 days,

Electrocatalysis: Prospects and Role to Enable an E‐Chemistry Future

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, EarlyView.
Case examples and emerging possibilities for electrocatalysis are still scarcely investigated, but necessary to exploit its potential and enable future e‐chemistry are presented. Abstract Electrocatalysis is a crucial technology that will enable future low‐carbon chemical production and energy beyond fossil fuels.

The Hexamethylenetetramine Adduct [Mg3(H2O)14][Fe(CN)6]2(C6H12N4)4(H2O)4.18, Its Potential as Testing Agent for Mg2+ Ions, and the Formation of Ferromagnetic Fe3C

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, EarlyView.
The addition of Mg2+ ions to a solution of [Fe(CN)6]3− and HMT (HMT = hexamethylenetetramine or urotropine) leads to the formation of [Mg3(H2O)14][Fe(CN)6]2(C6H12N4)4(H2O)4.18 and represents a test tube reaction for Mg2+ ions. The thermal decomposition of the compound yields ferromagnetic Fe3C.
