Prevalence of the JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in the world population: a systematic review

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2022
To investigate the global prevalence of the JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa).A comprehensive electronic search of databases, PUBMED, MEDLINE, EMBASE, BIOSIS, and SCOPUS, was conducted up to August 2021. All published articles and studies were considered, excluding animal studies, editorials, personal opinions, letters to ...

Virulence traits and plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance among Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans from Iraq: Low rate of highly virulent JP2 genotype

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2022
Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (A. actinomycetemcomitans) is an important causative agent of periodontitis acting by employment of a series of virulence factors. Our aim was to evaluate the virulence traits and plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance of A. actinomycetemcomitans isolates in Iraq.

Quantification of LtxA-production by JP2- and non-JP2 genotype strains of A. actinomycetemcomitans

2018
Background and Aim: The JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa) has been found to produce during culture 10-20 times more leukotoxin (LtxA) than non-JP2-genotypes. Recently, some Aa non-JP2 serotype b strains have been suggested to produce high amounts of leukotoxin.

Progression of attachment loss is strongly associated with presence of the JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans: a prospective cohort study of a young adolescent population

Journal of Clinical Periodontology, 2014
AbstractAimTo assess the progression of attachment loss (AL) during a 2‐year period according to the presence of JP2 and non‐JP2 genotypes of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans in a Ghanaian adolescent population.MethodsA total of 500 adolescents (mean age 13.2 years, SD ± 1.5) were enrolled in the study.

Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitansgenetic heterogeneity: amplification of JP2-likeltxpromoter pattern correlated with specific arbitrarily primed polymerase chain reaction (AP-PCR) genotypes from human but not marmoset Brazilian isolates

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 2002
Specific clonal types of Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, a major human periodontal pathogen, may be responsible for clinical manifestations and the production of leukotoxin virulence factors. Leukotoxicity is associated with genetic polymorphism at the promoter region of the leukotoxin (ltx) gene.

Leukotoxic potential among JP2 and non-JP2 genotypes of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans

2019
Background and Aim: Periodontitis is a disease causing destruction of the periodontal connective tissue and bone supporting the teeth. Presence of the JP2 genotype of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa) in periodontal pockets is associated with a high risk of development of periodontitis in adolescents.
