Detecting Plateau Zokor (Eospalax baileyi) Mounds in UAV Imagery of Alpine Meadows Using Deep Learning Algorithms

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
We developed PZM‐YOLO to automatically detect plateau zokor mounds in UAV imagery of alpine meadows. The model achieved reliable detection of small and densely distributed mounds under complex backgrounds, outperforming the baseline YOLOv5s. This framework supports mound counting, mound position, rodent impact assessment, and grassland restoration ...

A capacity estimation technique for JPEG-to-JPEG image watermarking [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, 2003
In JPEG-to-JPEG image watermarking (J2J), the input is a JPEG image file. After watermark embedding, the image is JPEG-compressed such that the output file is also a JPEG file. We use the human visual system (HVS) model to estimate the J2J data hiding capacity of JPEG images, or the maximum number of bits that can be embedded in JPEG-compressed images.

A Tracking‐By‐Detection Framework to Automatically Count Rare and Elusive Megafauna in Aerial Video Surveys

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Monitoring programs of vulnerable megafauna increasingly rely on aerial surveys from drones or planes fitted with cameras. However, automated methods are still lacking to accurately count individuals across entire surveys. Here, we leverage a tracking‐by‐detection framework to not only detect individuals but also link the resulting detections across ...

Robust steganographic framework for securing sensitive healthcare data of telemedicine using convolutional neural network

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Data is the key element that runs the modern society. Large amounts of data are being released day by day as a result of many activities. The digital data is transferred through the Internet which may be vulnerable to attacks while transmitting. Especially, the medical data is observed to be of at most importance.

Steganalysis of JPEG images using non-linear residuals

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2023
Most current JPEG steganalytic methods can only extract features from a series of linear residuals.Non-linear filters are not considered in these JPEG steganalytic methods, resulting in single types of residuals.Hence, a JPEG steganalytic method using ...

New Quality Metric for Compressed Images

open access: yesAnbar Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2020
This paper proposes a new quality-assessment metric for compressed images based on error magnitude, error location, and error distribution. The proposed MLD metric was applied to JPEG and other compression techniques and showed stronger correlation with ...

DrLS: Distortion‐Resistant Lossless Steganography via Colour Depth Interpolation

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The lossless data steganography is to hide a certain amount of information into a container image. Previous lossless steganography methods fail to strike a balance between capacity, imperceptibility, accuracy, and robustness, commonly vulnerable to distortion on container images.

Exact JPEG recompression [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2010
We present a variant of the JPEG baseline image compression algorithm optimized for images that were generated by a JPEG decompressor. It inverts the computational steps of one particular JPEG decompressor implementation (Independent JPEG Group, IJG), and uses interval arithmetic and an iterative process to infer the possible values of intermediate ...

Robust Multi‐Source Batch Normalisation for Test‐Time Batch Adaptation

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Test‐Time Batch Adaptation (TTBA) aims to adapt a pre‐trained source model to small, unlabelled target batches at test time. The TTBA methods focus on adapting the pre‐trained model or the target data in a one‐to‐one alignment paradigm. However, these one‐to‐one alignment paradigms assume that the source domain may share the same knowledge ...
