A cross-analysis framework for multi-source volunteered, crowdsourced, and authoritative geographic information: The case study of volunteered personal traces analysis against transport network data

open access: yesGeo-spatial Information Science, 2018
The paper discusses the need of a high-level query language to allow analysts, geographers and, in general, non-programmers to easily cross-analyze multi-source VGI created by means of apps, crowd-sourced data from social networks and authoritative geo ...

How Does Vulnerability Framing by Microfinance Institutions Leverage Funding Success in Crowdfunding?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Finance &Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study draws on framing theory to investigate how microfinance institutions (MFIs) strategically construct a vulnerability‐oriented organisational identity and how this framing influences their funding decisions during the pre‐campaign phase of prosocial crowdfunding.

A machine learning assisted method for rapidly annotating benthic megafauna in large volumes of marine imagery

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent technological advancements have rapidly expanded our capacity for collecting image data in the marine environment, but processing images into meaningful ecological metrics remains a manual, time‐consuming, and biased process. This is particularly challenging with electro‐optical cabled imaging systems which generate images at a rate ...

MatterMind: A User‐Friendly Material Design Platform Assisted by Large Language Model

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
The lack of user‐friendly tool interfaces has restricted the popularization of data‐driven methods in scientific research. In this study, we present MatterMind, a user‐friendly, agentic interface that closes the loop between first‐principles computation, generative structure design, and large language model (LLM) analysis. ABSTRACT Machine learning and
