HPLC Determination of Myricitrin in Juglans nigra L. Bark

An HPLC method for quantitative determination of myricitrin in black walnut (Julgans nigra L.) bark was developed. The content of the dominant flavonoid myricitrin (myricetin-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside) in J. nigra bark varied from (3.10 ± 0.18) to (3.18 ± 0.14)%.

Juglans nigra es una especie caduca de gran tamaño que puede alcanzar 18-27 m de altura y 61-91 cm de diámetro. Presenta un fuste recto y limpio, y una copa abierta y amplia. Desarrolla una pequeña copa cuando se encuentra en bosquetes, en situaciones abiertas esta es amplia, lo que muestra su intolerancia a la sombra.
