Elucidation of Juglone Synthesis in Black Walnut
The FASEB Journal, 2017Juglone has the potential to serve as a novel, natural product‐based herbicide. Juglone is an allelopathic naphthoquinone secreted by black walnut trees and other members of the Juglandaceae family. Metabolic engineering strategies to harness juglone as a new bio‐based herbicide are hampered by a lack of knowledge about its ...

New aspects of the preparation and control of juglone
Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 2000The presence of juglone (5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone) in a culture of the actinomyceteStreptoverticillium hiroshimense, strain 34, is demonstrated for the first time. A method is proposed for determining the content of derivatives of 1,4-naphthoquinone in the culture medium using EPR spectroscopy.
