Degeneration of the Julia set to singular loci of algebraic curves

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2013
We show that, when a non-integrable rational map changes to an integrable one continuously, a large part of the Julia set of the map approach indeterminate points (IDP) of the map along algebraic curves. We will see that the IDPs are singular loci of the

Enabling Real‐Time Shape‐Sensing in Soft Robots via a Miniaturized, Single‐Signal, Color‐Tuned Soft Optical Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A miniaturized soft optical sensor that uses thin film color tuning enables real‐time 3D shape‐sensing from a single red–green–blue (RGB) signal. When integrated into a soft robot, it enables closed‐loop control and autonomous navigation in a phantom lung environment without the need for onboard electronics, achieving sub‐millimeter accuracy through ...

Determination of the Exchange Current Density at Lithium │ Polymer Electrolyte Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a comprehensively validated method to determine the exchange current density (j0) at the interface of lithium metal and polymer electrolytes by combining electrochemical impedance spectroscopy with Bayesian inference and distribution of relaxation times analyses to successfully deconvolute solid electrolyte interphase and charge ...

Real‐Time In Vivo Monitoring of Anastomotic Intestinal Ischemia Using Implantable Resorbable Organic Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resorbable impedance sensors are successfully implanted into porcine small intestinal anastomoses. Impedance was recorded for 2 hours prior, and 2 hours following ischemia induction, and a significant drop in tissue impedance was observed. Abstract Anastomotic failure remains one of the most severe complications in gastrointestinal surgery.

Quartic Julia sets including any two copies of quadratic Julia sets

open access: yesDiscrete and Continuous Dynamical Systems, 2015
Let \(P\) be a polynomial of degree \(d\geqslant 2\) and denote by \(K(P)\) the filled-in Julia set of \(P\), which is the set of points that have bounded orbit under iteration by \(P\). It is well-known that if all finite critical points of \(P\) escape to infinity, then \(K(P)\) is totally disconnected, while \(K(P)\) is connected if and only if all ...

Advanced Human Immune Cell‐Organoid Co‐Cultures for Functional Testing of Cancer Nanovaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains difficult to treat. We establish an organoid–immune co‐culture using patient‐derived organoids and matched T‐cells to assess cancer vaccines. A mesothelin‐targeted nanovaccine activates antigen‐specific T‐cells, increases IFN‐γ, and targets MSLN+ organoids.

Wireless Bioelectronic Modulation of Membrane Potential in Glioblastoma Using Carbon Nanotube Porins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A schematic illustrating glioblastoma cell membrane modulation using carbon nanotube porins (CNTPs) and an applied voltage. CNTPs enable ion flux leading to changes in membrane potential. This figure summarizes the concept of bioelectronic control of cell membrane voltage.
