Generalized Telegraph Process with Random Jumps [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 2013
We consider a generalized telegraph process which follows an alternating renewal process and is subject to random jumps. More specifically, consider a particle at the origin of the real line at time t=0. Then it goes along two alternating velocities with opposite directions, and performs a random jump toward the alternating direction at each velocity ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Introducing a new approach for modeling stock market prices using the combination of jump-drift processes

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
The stock price data are sampled at discrete times (e.g., hourly, daily, weekly, etc). When data are sampled at discrete times, they appear as a sequence of discontinuous jump events, even if they have been sampled from a continuous process. On the other

Feller Property for a Special Hybrid Jump-Diffusion Model

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We consider the stochastic stability for a hybrid jump-diffusion model, where the switching here is a phase semi-Markovian process. We first transform the process into a corresponding jump-diffusion with Markovian switching by the supplementary variable ...

Optimization for position and rating of distributed generating units using bacteria foraging algorithm to reduce power losses

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cognitive Computing in Engineering, 2023
Distributed generation (DG) units, which include solar panels, wind turbines, and fuel cells, are gaining in popularity as a result of the fact that they are dependable and produce no harmful emissions when they generate electricity.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

The Influence of Ship Rolling Motion on Take-Off Aerodynamic Characteristics of Aircraft

open access: yesPolish Maritime Research, 2018
Ship motion is an important factor affecting on the safety of ski-jump take-off. The simplified frigate ship SFS1 was numerically simulated, and the results were compared with the experimental data, the feasibility of the calculation method was verified;

On the size of the block of 1 for Ξ-coalescents with dust

open access: yesModern Stochastics: Theory and Applications, 2017
We study the frequency process $f_{1}$ of the block of 1 for a Ξ-coalescent Π with dust. If Π stays infinite, $f_{1}$ is a jump-hold process which can be expressed as a sum of broken parts from a stick-breaking procedure with uncorrelated, but in general

Including Jumps in the Stochastic Valuation of Freight Derivatives

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The spot freight rate processes considered in the literature for pricing forward freight agreements (FFA) and freight options usually have a particular dynamics in order to obtain the prices.

Jump processes with deterministic and stochastic controls [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2019
We consider the dynamics of a 1D system evolving according to a deterministic drift and randomly forced by two types of jumps processes, one representing an external, uncontrolled forcing and the other one a control that instantaneously resets the system according to specified protocols (either deterministic or stochastic). We develop a general theory,
