The Characteristics of Heat Flow and Geothermal Field in Junggar Basin
Chinese Journal of Geophysics, 2000AbstractBased on the temperature data of 196 wells and measurements of 90 thermal conductivity of rocks in Junggar basin, 35 terrestrial heat flow values are presented. The results show that the Junggar basin is a relatively "cold basin" at present, in which both temperature gradient and heat flow are lower.

Thermal history of the periphery of the Junggar Basin, Northwestern China
Organic Geochemistry, 1994Abstract Geochemical analysis of rock core samples show that the basin periphery has experienced low thermal stress; present-day heat flows are in the range of 25–35 mW/m2 and have not been significantly higher than the worldwide mean of approx. 63 mW/m2 since the mid-Permian.

Aspects of the petroleum geology of the Junggar Basin, Northwest China
Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1990Abstract The Junggar Basin is one of a family of productive interior basins in Northwest China. These are generally referred to as ‘flexural’ or ‘orogenic’ basins nucleated by Variscan orogenic episodes. Their uniqueness is enhanced by later rejuvenation and reactivation in the successive orogenic phases affecting Central Asia.

The sedimentary landscape and dynamics of foreland basins, which are shaped by the interplaysbetween tectonics, climate, sedimentation and erosion processes, are key elements toreconstruct the evolution of orogenic systems. Therefore, a detailed understanding of the relationshipsbetween the foreland landscapes and these processes is necessary to ...
