Evaluation of carbonification of coals using a portable Raman spectrometer

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 54, Issue 11, Page 1220-1232, November 2023., 2023
This study illustrates that it is possible to discriminate among the coals of different degrees of maturation of the carbonaceous matter and other types of carbonaceous matter using the data acquired with a portable Raman spectrometer using spectroscopic parameters: D and G band widths and wavenumber positions.

Evolution of depositional environment of the Pliensbachian Stage (Lower Jurassic) coal‐bearing series in the Qaidam Basin, NW China

open access: yesGeological Journal, Volume 58, Issue 10, Page 3948-3963, October 2023., 2023
The Pliensbachian Stage mainly developed as a fluvial‐lacustrine depositional system and an evolution history from braided fluvial to meandering fluvial, then to lacustrine, and finally back to meandering fluvial was reconstructed. We suggest that climate change is the major controlling factor for depositional evolution during the Pliensbachian.

Study on Hydraulic Connection of Multiple Aquifers Based on Dewatering Test of Sandstone Aquifer from Floor

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2020
In order to find out the hydraulic connection between Baotashan sandstone aquifer from the floor of coal seam and other aquifers in the Jurassic coalfield, the underground dewatering test is adopted. The Baotashan sandstone aquifer is drained with large

Study on the effect of rock stratum structure on the stability of weakly cemented layered floor and the floor control measures: A case study of Meihuajing Mine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 11, Issue 7, Page 2238-2252, July 2023., 2023
A study on the stability of weakly cemented layered floor. Abstract Given the deformation and instability of the layered floor of weakly cemented soft rock roadway, taking the mining roadway of Meihuajing Mine as the engineering background, the deformation and instability mechanism of the floor and the control measures of the surrounding rock under ...

‘A hard rain's a‐gonna fall’: torrential rain, flash floods and desert lakes in the Late Triassic Arden Sandstone of Central England

open access: yesGeology Today, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 90-98, May/June 2023., 2023
The Arden Sandstone Formation of central and western England is a thin but conspicuous arenaceous unit within the Late Triassic Mercia Mudstone Group. Sedimentological and palaeontological data point to lacustrine depositional conditions, in contrast to the red desert mudstones above and below which were deposited as continental dryland desert ...
