Towards passive station holding of autonomous underwater vehicles inspired by fish behaviour in unsteady flows [PDF]
Some species of fish are able to alter their mode of swimming to interact with naturally produced vortices; the use of these gaits reduces the energy expended by the fish.

Flexible patchy vegetation in a meandering bend: Effect on main flow and dispersion processes
The presence of finite flexible and submerged vegetation patches in bends alters the typical curvature‐induced circulation motion and the streamwise velocity distribution, determining a fragmented flow patternThe lateral dispersion and the mass exchanges are strongly influenced by the vegetated patches and turbulent structures forming in patch‐adjacent

Von K\'arm\'an vortex street in a Bose-Einstein condensate
Vortex shedding from an obstacle potential moving in a Bose-Einstein condensate is investigated. Long-lived alternately aligned vortex pairs are found to form in the wake, as for the von K\'arm\'an vortex street in classical viscous fluids.

A hybrid RANS‐LES turbulence model adapted for the Moving Particle Semi‐implicit method is employed to investigate a turbulent free surface flow. A method based on the cell‐linked list is proposed to speed up the nearest wall search for the turbulence model.

Proper orthogonal decomposition analysis of vortex shedding behind a rotating circular cylinder
Turbulence studies were made in the wake of a rotating circular cylinder in a uniform free stream with the objective of describing the patterns of the vortex shedding up to suppression of the periodic vortex street at high velocity ratios, λ. The results

Reduced-order modeling of transonic flows around an airfoil submitted to small deformations [PDF]
A reduced-order model (ROM) is developed for the prediction of unsteady transonic flows past an airfoil submitted to small deformations, at moderate Reynolds number.

Vortex Line Density in a Superfluid Turbulent Wake in the Zero Temperature Limit
The quasiclassical conjecture for quantum turbulence in a pure superfluid straightforwardly leads to the definition of the superfluid Reynolds number, Res=ud/κ$Re_s=ud/\kappa$, and suggests that the effective quantum viscosity should be of the order of the circulation quantum κ$\kappa$.

This study explores the feasibility of using an oscillating plate downstream of a cylindrical body to produce mechanical energy from a Von Kármán vortex street under sub-critical flow conditions (Re = 72,500). The study aims to quantify the impact of the
