k-nearest neighbors prediction and classification for spatial data

open access: yes, 2018
We propose a nonparametric predictor and a supervised classification based on the regression function estimate of a spatial real variable using k-nearest neighbors method (k-NN). Under some assumptions, we establish almost complete or sure convergence of

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Spiral ground state in the quasi-two-dimensional spin-1/2 system Cu2GeO4

open access: yes, 2011
We apply density functional theory band structure calculations, the coupled-cluster method, and exact diagonalization to investigate the microscopic magnetic model of the spin-1/2 compound Cu2GeO4.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Two-spin subsystem entanglement in spin 1/2 rings with long range interactions

open access: yes, 2007
We consider the two-spin subsystem entanglement for eigenstates of the Hamiltonian \[ H= \sum_{1\leq j< k \leq N} (\frac{1}{r_{j,k}})^{\alpha} {\mathbf \sigma}_j\cdot {\mathbf \sigma}_k \] for a ring of $N$ spins 1/2 with asssociated spin vector ...

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

A Classifier Based on K-Nearest Neighbors Using Weighted Summation of Reconstruction Errors [PDF]

open access: yesمجله مدل سازی در مهندسی
In this paper, a classifier is introduced based on the nearest neighbor classifier and the reconstruction error for data classification. In the proposed method, first, K nearest data points (neighbors) from each category in the training data are ...
