Optimization Problems in k-out-of-n Systems

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1985
A k-out-of-n:G system is an important complex system and is used for mass transit and computer systems. This paper does not discuss the availability, but considers what is the most economical k-out-of-n system when the failure rate of each element is constant.

Multi-State Consecutive- k -out-of- n Systems

IIE Transactions, 2003
In the binary context, a consecutive- k -out-of- n system is failed if and only if at least k consecutive components are failed. In this paper we propose definitions of the multi-state consecutive- k -out-of- n :F and G systems. In the proposed definition, both the system and its components may be in one of M + 1 possible states: 0, 1,..., and M .

Lifetime distributions of consecutive-k-out-of-n: F systems

Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 1997
Summary: We discuss lifetime distributions of systems with \(n\) components such as \(r\)-out-of-\(n\) : \(F\) systems and consecutive-\(k\)-out-of-\(n\) : \(F\) systems from the standpoint of statistical distribution theory. Further, we propose a very general and feasible method for deriving the lifetime distribution of a system whose components are ...

Reliability of a k-out-of-n warm-standby system

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1992
Summary: A general closed-form equation is developed for system reliability of a \(k\)-out-of-\(n\) warm-standby system ( dormant failures). The equation reduces to the hot and cold standby cases under the appropriate restrictions.

Optimal repair stage for K-out-of-N systems

Microelectronics Reliability, 1989
Abstract Optimization studies on reliability systems is currently a fascinating area of research. In recent investigations, optimization techniques have been extended to cover even more complex reliability systems with larger applicational scope. In this paper, we study a complex system in terms of a K -out-of- N system (for example, occuring in ...
