The Mutable Original: How Chinese Counterfeits Become Nigerian Originals in African Markets

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Affordable Chinese copies of Western brands are ubiquitous in African markets. Despite democratizing consumer access, these goods appear to cement hegemonic value hierarchies that rank Chinese or local products as inferior to Western goods.

Budesonide and Surfactant Therapy Versus Surfactant Alone on Incidence of Lung Disease in Preterm Infants (BEST Lung): Study Protocol for a Systematic Review and Individual Participant Data Meta‐Analysis With Nested Prospective Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in preterm infants. Combining surfactant with budesonide has been proposed to prevent BPD, but results from existing randomised controlled trials (RCTs) are conflicting.

Visual Voices, an Interpretive Methodology: Advocating for Inclusion in Cancer Research for People With Intellectual Disabilities Through Artwork Analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Learning Disabilities, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background People with intellectual disabilities face inequities across the cancer care continuum. Honokiol regulates Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)‐associated pulmonary fibrosis via the miR‐19a‐3p/POSTN axis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and subsequent pulmonary fibrosis are associated with high mortality and limited treatment options. Periostin (POSTN) is a profibrotic mediator predicted to be regulated by microRNA‐19a‐3p (miR‐19a‐3p), but the relevance of this axis in ARDS‐associated pulmonary fibrosis remains

Decreased Expression by a Chemically Modified siRNA to PTBP1 Seriously Affects Warburg Effect in Colorectal Cancer Cells

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Chemically modified siR‐PTBP1 disrupts the Warburg effect by reprogramming pyruvate kinase splicing from PKM2 to PKM1. This metabolic shift activates the TCA cycle, increases ATP production, and excessive ROS generation, and ultimately induces apoptotic cell death in colorectal cancer cells.
