Penelitian ekstraksi sap dari rumput laut Sargassum telah dilakukan dengan menggunakan larutan KOH. Sebelum dilakukan perlakuan Sargassum direndam dalam HCl 1% selama 2 jam, dicuci dengan air tawar dan ditiriskan.
