Study on in situ stress testing method based on Kaiser effect of acoustic emission and COMSOL simulation

open access: yes, 2023
In situ stress testing can improve the safety and efficiency of coal mining. Identifying the Kaiser effect point is vital for in situ stress calculations; however, the in situ stress calculation is limited by the rock sampling angle.

Minkowski Tensors in Redshift Space—Beyond the Plane-parallel Approximation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The Minkowski tensors (MTs) can be used to probe anisotropic signals in a field, and are well suited for measuring the redshift-space distortion (RSD) signal in large-scale structure catalogs. We consider how the linear RSD signal can be extracted from a

Kilometer‐scale Kaiser effect identified in Krafla volcano, Iceland [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2015
AbstractThe Krafla rifting episode in 1975–1984, consisted of around 20 inflation‐deflation events within the Krafla caldera, where magma accumulated during inflation periods and was intruded into the transecting fissure swarm during brief periods of deflation. We reanalyze geodetic and seismic data from the rifting episode and perform a time‐dependent

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Impact dynamic characteristics and constitutive model of granite damaged by cyclic loading

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
To study the influence of damage degree on dynamic characteristics of damaged rock mass, the samples with different damage degrees were obtained by cyclic loading test and then the impact failure test was carried out by a 100-mm diameter split Hopkinson ...

A Dual‐Bioresponsive and Programmable Microneedle Matrix as a Bioinspired Coupler for Orchestrating Diabetic Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This project developed a smart bandage‐like patch (a microneedle array) for repairing diabetic bone damage. It intelligently senses signals from infection and inflammation, then releases its medicines in a specific, timed sequence: first an antibacterial agent, then an anti‐inflammatory agent, and finally growth factors.

Measuring and Manipulating Density of States in Two‐Dimensional Materials With Electrochemical Capacitance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
We report electrochemical quantum capacitance spectroscopy as an ambient, in situ probe for defect‐mediated electronic structure at 2D material interfaces. Using monolayer MoS2, the method resolves band edges and vacancy states, tracks sulfur‐vacancy evolution during hydrogen evolution, and links interfacial density‐of‐states changes to nearly ...

The tumor patient in the COVID-19 pandemic-an interview-based study of 30 patients undergoing systemic antiproliferative therapy.

open access: yes, 2021
IntroductionFive months after COVID-19 first occurred and protective regulations were introduced, patients at three outpatient hematological/oncological centers in Bavaria who had received antiproliferative tumor therapy (n = 30) were questioned about ...
