“Macht das Ohr auf”: Anthropology and Functional Transformation of Sound Media in German Cosmic Music Between the 1960s and 1970s

open access: yesHumanities
This article highlights the importance of the discourse on sound media for the development of so-called “cosmic music” in Germany in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Violation of the Kaiser effect by hydraulic-fracturing-related microseismicity

open access: yesJournal of Geophysics and Engineering, 2007
Application of a load to different materials and rocks induces acoustic and seismic emission. If the load has a cyclic character, then as a rule such an emission will vanish for loads less than the maximum previously reached load level. This is the so-called Kaiser effect, which is an expression of memorized stress history of materials and rocks ...

The Unique Roles of Executive Function in Co‐Occurring Psychopathologies in Autism

open access: yesAutism Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often experience co‐occurring psychiatric conditions, such as anxiety and attention‐deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which significantly impair daily functioning. However, the underlying mechanisms linking these conditions to core ASD features remain poorly understood.

Blood pressure effects of SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists: Mechanisms, trial evidence and Real‐world data

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP‐1 receptor agonists modestly lower blood pressure across diverse patient populations, including those without diabetes. These effects appear largely independent of glycaemic control and offer additive value in high‐risk patients with overlapping comorbidities.

THE KAISER EFFECT OF GRANITE CAUSED BY VARIOUS LOADING METHODS

open access: yesDoboku Gakkai Ronbunshu, 1985
In order to know the Kaiser effect of AE (Acoustic Emission) in triaxial directions of a rock mass, the Kaiser effect of AE in the granite specimens were investigated by applying the compressive pre-stresses of various intensities repeatedly on the respective directions to the specimens. From the testing results, it was found that the pre-compressed ...

Affinity Peptides With pH Sensitivity for the Enrichment of CD38+ Cells

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The selective enrichment of cell populations based on surface markers is critical for the advancement of gene and cell therapies. Current antibody‐based cell isolation methods, such as fluorescence‐ and magnetic‐activated cell sorting (FACS and MACS), offer high specificity but are limited by scalability, cost, and potential adverse effects on

One‐Pot Synthesis of a Small Synthetic Ligand for Antibody Purification

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
One‐pot liquid‐phase synthesis of the synthetic ligand B1Al2A2 enables controllable ligand density and efficient capture of IgG and IgY with high recovery and purity, streamlining small‐ligand affinity purification workflows. ABSTRACT The development of synthetic affinity ligands offers a cost‐effective alternative to traditional biological ligands ...

Individualised niches: an integrative conceptual framework across behaviour, ecology, and evolution

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Individuals differ. While seemingly trivial, this insight has nevertheless led to paradigm shifts, as three key fields of organismal biology have seen marked changes in key concepts over the past few decades. In animal behaviour, it has become increasingly recognised that behavioural differences among individuals can be stable over time and ...
