Drywood Termites (Kalotermitidae)

open access: yes, 2020
The term drywood termites was introduced for those species nesting and feeding in wood with low or no moisture. The term is used as a synonym for the family Kalotermitidae, although not all kalotermitids exhibit the same substrate prefer- ence. There are, in fact, many species living in rotten or damp wood logs (such as Neotermes).

Phylogenetic Analysis and Trait Evolution in Australian Lineages of Drywood Termites (Isoptera, Kalotermitidae)

open access: yesMolecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2000
A phylogenetic analysis of Australian drywood termites (Isoptera, Kalotermitidae) based on partial sequence from the cytochrome oxidase II (COII) and cytochrome b genes is presented. In addition to providing new information on the evolutionary relationships among 25 species from seven genera, we evaluate the relative likelihoods of alternative ...

Thermal tolerance of an invasive drywood termite, Cryptotermes brevis (Blattodea: Kalotermitidae)

Journal of Thermal Biology, 2022
West Indian drywood termites (Cryptotermes brevis, Blattodea: Kalotermitidae) are an important invasive termite in many countries including Australia where they are spreading across two eastern states. Fumigation is often used to eliminate infestations, but it is costly, has negative environmental effects and does not prevent reinfestation.
