Childhood Nephrotic Syndrome in Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano

Methods: A prospective study spanning two years (July 2002 – August 2004). Twenty two children with nephrotic syndrome were seen ate the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano. The demographic, clinical and laboratory features and response to treatment were documented. Results: Nephritic syndrome made up of 1.2% of all Peadiatric admissions.

OCCURRENCE OF HEATWAVES IN KANO METROPOLIS, KANO STATE, NIGERIA

The study analysed the occurrences of heatwaves in the metropolitan Kano between 1991 and 2010 to devise a mitigation protocol for this menace. Daily maximum temperature was taken at the synoptic hours (12 noon to 3:00 pm) during the period (March, April and May) of extreme heat (hot and dry).

Aminu Kano

Aminu Kano was born into the family of Mallam Yusufu and Malama Rakaiya of the Sudawa quarters of Kano city in 1920. He obtained Islamic education and attended various local Western schools before serving as a teacher at the Bauchi Provincial Middle School.

The Kano Chronicle

The contents of the Kano Chronicle have long been known to scholars from the translation by Sir Richmond Palmer. The several Arabic MSS. of the work had, for years, been lost sight of, though it was thought that there must still be copies in Kano. In 1939 an American scholar, Professor J. H. Greenberg, made a microfilm copy of a MS.
