Kappa index for multiple sclerosis diagnosis: an accurate biomarker of intrathecal synthesis
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) kappa-free light chains (KFLC) are becoming a diagnostic biomarker for multiple sclerosis (MS).We aimed to compare the diagnostic performance of intrathecal synthesis biomarkers to that of oligoclonal bands (OB) in diagnosing MS, radiological and clinical isolated syndromes (RIS-CIS) on a large cohort of patients collected ...

To evaluate the diagnostic performance of the measles-rubella-zoster reaction (MRZR) in a large real-world multiple sclerosis (MS) cohort. Second, to compare MRZR with the determination of oligoclonal IgG bands (OCB), oligoclonal kappa free light chain bands (oKFLC), and the KFLC index.A single-center retrospective study was conducted at the University

Inclusion of Symmetry as a Shape Attribute in Kappa Index Analysis
Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships, 1987AbstractThe molecular shape attribute of symmetry is introduced as a supplement to the shape attributes encoded by the kappa values. This attribute is indexed by the Shannon equation for information content and is designated as 0κ within the framework of multiple path, path and atom counts to derive the kappa values.

Kappa as an index of reproducibility: distribution under the null-hypothesis.
Revue d'epidemiologie et de sante publique, 1988The authors report a Monte-Carlo study of the properties of the weighted Kappa (Kw) statistic under the null-hypothesis and the assumption of equal marginal distributions, two hypotheses required in order to use Kw as an index of reproducibility. Different factors that may affect the Kw distribution are investigated: sample size, choice of the set of ...

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) may occur before the age of 18. Differentiation between paediatric MS (PedMS) and other demyelinating syndromes (ODSs) is challenging. In adult with MS, the kappa free light chain (KFLC) index has proven to be a reliable marker of intrathecal Ig synthesis.

A simple model of observation is proposed which allows for guessing. The proportion of agreement, G, and kappa indexes are shown to differ in how they correct for chance agreements between two observers. On the basis of the findings, it is suggested that no single agreement index is appropriate for all sets of data.
