Stability of a reverse Karman vortex street

Physics of Fluids, 2021
The reverse vortex street differs from the ordinary Karman vortex street in the direction of the rotation of the vortices. Such a street is formed behind the oscillating airfoils in the flow. It is of interest in connection with studies of the aerodynamics of flapping wings.

DNS of droplet–vortex interaction with a Karman vortex street

International Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, 2006
Abstract Predicting fuel spray interaction with large scale vortex structures still is a major challenge for state-of-the-art CFD codes. In order to elucidate the mechanisms involved, a fundamental study has been carried out in which the interaction of water droplets with a Karman vortex street is investigated.

Impingement of a von Karman Vortex Street on a Delta Wing

Journal of Aircraft, 2005
Introduction H IGH-PERFORMANCE military aircraft oftentimes employ delta-shaped wings. It is well documented that delta wings at a fixed angle of attack generate lift by separating a shear layer of fluid (air or water) at the leading edge, and this shear layer forms two strong counter-rotating vortices on either side of the wing.1−5 These leading-edge (

Karman vortex street assisted patterning in the growth of silicon nanowires

Chemical Communications, 2007
A Karman vortex street was employed to pattern catalysts and grow nanomaterial arrays, which were made of a disk-like superstructure built of silicon nanowires; there also existed nanowires connected with the disks.

Modification of the Karman-vortex street in the freestream

AIAA Journal, 1986
An experimental study conducted in the NASA Langley 15-in Low-Turbulence Wind Tunnel demonstrated that a relatively short-chord flow-aligned plate placed in the proximity of a cylindar could produce nearly one-signed oscillatory transverse control vortices.

Karman vortex streets in wakes of islands.

AIAA Journal, 1965
W satellites equipped with narrow-angle cameras have revealed the existence of mesoscale eddies, which are on a scale too small to be delineated by the standard weather observation network and are too large to be seen by an observer on the ground or even pictured from a high-flying aircraft.
