Development characteristics and controlling factors of red-bed karst in the southern section of Longmen Mountain at the edge of Sichuan Basin

open access: yesCarsologica Sinica
During the Jurassic to Cretaceous periods, a set of continental red basin sediments were deposited in front of Longmen Mountain on the western margin of the Sichuan Basin.

The Unexpected Discovery of Paleocene? Coals in Outcrops Thought to Be Cambrian, Al Huqf, Oman

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Geology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Two brown organic deposits were encountered whilst investigating kaolinitic claystones thought to occur at the base of a Cambrian formation at outcrop. The age of these organic deposits is probably Paleocene from palynology. Organic petrography shows that they are subbituminous coals with some oil source potential.

Features and genesis analysis of geological relics of karst landforms in the Laoshan area of Malipo, Yunnan Province

open access: yesCarsologica Sinica
The Laoshan area in Malipo, Yunnan Province is located in the transitional zone from the karst plateau in southeastern Yunnan to the Red River Delta Plain in Northern Vietnam, where the gorge-type karst landform is typically developed, forming a rich and

Surface landforms and speleological investigation for a better understanding of karst hydrogeological processes: a history of research in southeastern Italy

open access: yes, 2018
Small-size karst landforms may potentially provide very useful information to fully understand the behaviour of karst systems and their dynamics. In this chapter we demonstrate the need to pay attention to such features.

Subsistence hunting shapes the spatial variation of jaguar densities in community‐managed forests

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
Jaguars and people can coexist in community‐managed forests, but distance matters. In Guatemala's Maya Biosphere Reserve, jaguar numbers increased markedly in areas harder to reach on foot, yet jaguars were still found near communities, showing that responsibly managed forests can support jaguar populations while allowing people to maintain traditional

Development law and influencing factors of covered karst in Shaoguan New District

open access: yesCarsologica Sinica
The carbonate rock in the Shaoguan New District is widely distributed, and the covered karst caves are well-developed, exerting a significant influence on engineering construction and restricting the city’s construction and development.
