Karst geosites in NE Italy.

open access: yes, 2010
Karsts areas are “landscapes of special geological and geomorphologic interest which call for conservation” and can therefore be defined as potential geosites according to the definition given by Cleal et al. [2]. This communication briefly describes the

Damage Characteristics and Stress Distribution Law of Overburden Rock in Multiple Mining of Close Coal Seams

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study on close coal seams shows that multi‐seam mining increases the height of the fractured zone from approximately 26 m (single upper‐seam mining) to about 49 m. When the lower seam is mined after the extraction of the upper seam, the heights of both the caved zone and the fractured zone increase by approximately two times.

Bryozoan‐Rich Carbonate Units of the Erfoud Area (SE Morocco) Record Latest Katian to Early Hirnantian Interglacial Intervals

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
In this study, we re‐examine the depositional architecture of the Erfoud limestone in Morocco. Introducing new biostratigraphic constraints from chitinozoan assemblages, we show that Katian to Hirnantian bryozoan‐pelmatozoan meadows reflect flooding events linked to a series of interglacial transgressions known to have occurred immediately prior to the

Functional divergence and stage-specific symbiosis of endophytic Tulasnella fungi in the endangered orchid Paphiopedilum malipoense

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior
Paphiopedilum malipoense, a critically endangered orchid, depends entirely on mycorrhizal fungi for germination, complicating its conservation. This study isolated 12 fungal strains from wild roots, all identified as Tulasnella, confirming strict host ...

Decoupling glacier retreat and surface stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (Slovenia), insights from in situ cosmogenic 36Cl exposure and depth‐profile ages

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glaciokarst landscapes pose distinctive challenges for cosmogenic dating because meltwater and runoff can be rapidly rerouted into ponors and conduit networks, weakening glacier–river coupling and promoting local sediment storage. We reconstruct glacier retreat and postglacial stabilization on the Snežnik Plateau (SW Slovenia) using in situ ...

Comprehensive Analysis of Microbiomes and Metabolomics Reveals the Mechanism of Adaptation to Cadmium Stress in Rhizosphere Soil of Rhododendron decorum subsp. Diaprepes

open access: yesHorticulturae
The toxicity of cadmium (Cd) not only affects the growth and development of plants but also has an impact on human health. In this study, high-throughput sequencing and LC-MS were conducted to analyze the effect of CdCl2 treatment on the microbial ...

Hydrogeology of the Hinterland of Sibenik and Trogir, Croatia

open access: yesGeologia Croatica, 2010
Intense karstification of carbonate rocks in the study area is the reason why the surface streams disappear and why sea water penetrates deeply into the coastal area.

New geochronological constraints on Late Pleistocene glaciation in the southern Cadí Massif, SE Pyrenees

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Cadí Massif (42°17′09″ N, 1°38′11″ E; 2649 m a.s.l.) in the southeastern Pyrenees preserves clear evidence of Late Pleistocene glaciation, although previous research has focused almost exclusively on its northern slope. By contrast, the southern slope has remained largely unexplored.
