Neuroprotective Kaurane Diterpenes from Fritillaria ebeiensis [PDF]

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2011
The new kaurane diterpene, ent-3β-butanoyloxykaur-15-en-17-ol, and four known kaurane diterpenes were isolated from the bulbs of Fritillaria ebeiensis. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses (IR, ESI-MS, HR-ESI-MS, 1-D and 2-D NMR).

The correlation among residual nitrites, biogenic amines, N‐nitrosamine formation, and degradation occurrence of punicalagin α/β, rosmarinic acid, carnosol, and carnosic acid in extract‐treated sausage during storage

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 9, Page 5409-5426, September 2023., 2023
The use of natural antioxidants in meat products has been extensively studied. However, no reports have been found regarding the accumulation of antioxidant residues in meat products over the storage time in cold storage by LC‐DAD‐MS analysis. To manufacture of Punica granatum L.

Plant terpene specialized metabolism: complex networks or simple linear pathways?

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, Volume 114, Issue 5, Page 1178-1201, June 2023., 2023
SUMMARY From the perspectives of pathway evolution, discovery and engineering of plant specialized metabolism, the nature of the biosynthetic routes represents a critical aspect. Classical models depict biosynthesis typically from an end‐point angle and as linear, for example, connecting central and specialized metabolism. As the number of functionally

Ferroptosis‐modulating small molecules for targeting drug‐resistant cancer: Challenges and opportunities in manipulating redox signaling

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 43, Issue 3, Page 614-682, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Ferroptosis is an iron‐dependent cell death program that is characterized by excessive lipid peroxidation. Triggering ferroptosis has been proposed as a promising strategy to fight cancer and overcome drug resistance in antitumor therapy. Understanding the molecular interactions and structural features of ferroptosis‐inducing compounds might ...

Risks for human health related to the presence of grayanotoxins in certain honey

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 21, Issue 3, March 2023., 2023
Abstract The European Commission asked EFSA for a scientific opinion on the risks for human health of the presence of grayanotoxins (GTXs) in ‘certain honey’ from Ericaceae plants. The risk assessment included all structurally related grayananes occurring with GTXs in ‘certain’ honey. Oral exposure is associated with acute intoxication in humans. Acute

Labdane conjugates protect cardiomyocytes from doxorubicin‐induced cardiotoxicity

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 84, Issue 1, Page 84-95, February 2023., 2023
Abstract The cardiovascular side effects associated with doxorubicin (DOX), a wide spectrum anticancer drug, have limited its clinical application. Therefore, to explore novel strategies with cardioprotective effects, a series of new labdane conjugates were prepared (6a–6c and 8a–8d) from the natural diterpene labdanodiol (1).

Network‐Based Method to Investigate the Promoted Cell Apoptosis Mechanisms of Oridonin in OSCC through the RNA‐Transcriptome

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
The morbidity of oral cancer is high in the world. Oridonin is a traditional Chinese medicine that can effectively inhibit oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) growth, but its mechanism remains unclear. Our previous data showed that oridonin inhibited CAL‐27 cell proliferation and promoted apoptosis.

Safety of the proposed amendment of the specifications for enzymatically produced steviol glycosides (E 960c): Rebaudioside D produced via enzymatic bioconversion of purified stevia leaf extract

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 20, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Food Additives and Flavourings (FAF Panel) provides a scientific opinion on the safety of a proposed amendment of the specifications of enzymatically produced steviol glycosides (E 960c) with respect to the inclusion of rebaudioside D produced via enzyme‐catalysed bioconversion of purified stevia leaf extract. Rebaudioside D (
