Effect of substructure fabrication method and design on the fracture resistance properties of metal–ceramic restorations

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose In metal–ceramic restorations, the substructure fabrication method and design may affect the prognosis of the prosthesis. This study evaluated and compared the fracture resistance of metal–ceramic restorations fabricated with different substructure fabrication methods using two different alloy powders and designs.

The effects of material thicknesses and substrates on the translucency and color masking ability of additively manufactured definitive crown materials

open access: yesJournal of Prosthodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the translucency of the new 3D‐printable materials concerning thickness and the color masking ability of each material against different substrate colors. Materials and Methods Ninety square‐shaped specimens (12.0 mm × 12.0 mm) of two new 3D‐printable materials: ceramic‐infiltrated hybrid resin composite (VS) and light ...

Long-Term Survival After Desperation Surgery for Primary Mediastinal Non-Seminomatous Germ Cell Tumor With Rising Alpha-Fetoprotein. [PDF]

open access: yesIJU Case Rep
ABSTRACT Introduction Primary mediastinal non‐seminomatous germ cell tumors (PMNSGCTs) are rare and aggressive neoplasms that carry a poor prognosis, especially following salvage chemotherapy. In cases of residual tumors with elevated tumor marker levels, desperation surgery may be considered.

Psychophysical changes after total sleep deprivation and experimental muscle pain

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Sleep disturbances exacerbate chronic pain, increase psychological load, and increase inflammation. Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) mimics aspects of chronic pain, predominantly affecting peripheral pain mechanisms, while experimental sleep provocations have been shown to impact central pain mechanisms.

Intravenous Immunoglobulin Resistant Incomplete Kawasaki Disease in a 4-Month-Old Infant: A Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT The diagnosis of Incomplete Kawasaki disease (KD) is challenging. Approximately 20% of patients exhibit resistance to initial intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy, termed IVIG‐resistant KD, which is associated with a markedly increased risk of coronary artery aneurysms and long‐term cardiovascular complications.

Seeing the Speaker's Face Enhances Second Language Shadowing: Neural and Behavioral Evidence

open access: yesLanguage Learning, EarlyView.
Abstract This functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) study investigated how facial cues influence second language (L2) shadowing among 42 Japanese learners of English. Participants completed four conditions that varied by task type (listening vs. shadowing) and visual input (face vs. mosaic).

Molecular characterization of Kawasaki disease subgroups using cell-free RNA profiling

open access: yesScientific Reports
Kawasaki disease is a pediatric vasculitis and the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children. The heterogeneous clinical presentation of Kawasaki disease complicates diagnosis and treatment, highlighting the need for molecular signatures to ...

Small‐scale elemental abundance variations in Ryugu particles from touchdown 1

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Ryugu materials closely resemble CI chondrites' mineralogical, chemical, and isotopic compositions; yet minor but resolvable differences in certain elemental abundances are evident. In this study, the bulk chemical compositions of eight individual Ryugu particles (1.5–4.3 mg) from the first touchdown site (TD1) were determined using triple ...

A Conserved Magnaporthe oryzae Effector Counteracts the Rice Ubiquitin‐Proteasome System by Disrupting the E2 Function to Suppress Immunity

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pathogens commonly secrete effectors into host cells to facilitate invasion. In the host ubiquitin‐proteasome system (UPS), E3 ubiquitin ligases often target pathogen effectors for degradation, thereby enhancing immune responses. In turn, pathogen effectors frequently disrupt E3 ligase function to promote virulence. However, it remains largely
