Kenaf Fibers for Tribo-Thermoplastic Composites
Volume 4: Design and Manufacturing, 2009In the present work, wear and frictional characteristics of thermoplastic epoxy resin reinforced with treated kenaf fiber (T-KFRE) is investigated. The T-KFRE composite was tested against smooth stainless steel using a block on disc (BOD) apparatus at 2.8m/s sliding velocity and variable applied loads (10–60N) and sliding distance (02.7km).

Thermal Characterization of Alkali Treated Kenaf Fibers and Kenaf-Epoxy Composites
Fibers and Polymers, 2018Chemical treatment of natural fibers is a well-defined means of mechanical property improvement in natural fiberreinforced composites. An understanding of mechanical and thermal properties in these media is essential for evaluating heat transfer, thermal degradation, and overall performance of these composites over their product lifetime. However, very

Environmental Degradation Behavior of Kenaf Fiber Mat Composite
Volume 9: Mechanics of Solids, Structures and Fluids, 2014Nowadays “eco-design” is becoming a philosophy to guide next generation of materials and products as global environmental issue produced by fossil fuels and resource overusing. With an industrial increasing interest in sustainable, eco-efficient and green material’s application, natural fiber in polymer composite is guided to develop rapidly.

Mechanical properties of kenaf fibers and kenaf/PLA composites
Mechanics of Materials, 2008Abstract This paper describes the cultivation of kenaf and application to biodegradable composite materials. The unidirectional biodegradable composite materials were made from kenaf fibers and an emulsion-type PLA resin. Thermal analysis of kenaf fibers revealed that tensile strength of kenaf fibers decreased when kept at 180 °C for 60 min ...

Kenaf–polypropylene composites manufactured from blended fiber mats
Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, 2013Experimental investigations were conducted on kenaf–polypropylene composites manufactured from preformed mats consisting of kenaf and polypropylene fibers in a ratio of 1 : 1 in weight to explore the prospects of annual natural plant fibers as reinforcements for polymer–matrix composites.

A Review on the Kenaf Fiber Reinforced Thermoset Composites
Applied Composite Materials, 2021Plant fibers are becoming popular in polymer composites because of their eco-friendliness and natural availabilities at lower cost than synthetic fibers. The kenaf fiber as reinforcement has shown better specific properties than glass fiber because of its low density.
