Thermomechanical properties of the silanized-kenaf/polystyrene composites

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2009
In order to improve the poor interfacial adhesion of the kenaf fiber and polystyrene (PS) in their composite material, the surface of the kenaf fiber was modified using a synthesized polymeric coupling agent to promote adhesion with PS matrix.

Poly(L‐Lactide‐Co‐ε‐Caprolactone)/glass Fiber Composites: Toward Improved Mechanical Properties of Polylactide‐Based Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Enhanced impact strength in PLLA‐based composites via ε‐caprolactone incorporation in the matrix. ABSTRACT Inherent brittleness and limited toughness of polylactide (PLA) restrict its use in high‐performance applications. To overcome these limitations, poly(L‐lactide) (PLLA) is often blended with more ductile thermoplastics or chemically modified ...

Composite of polyethylene and kenaf, a natural cellulose fiber [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 1994
It is shown that the composites with Kenaf fibers provide a promising way to improve the stiffness of polyethylene considerably. The crystallization kinetics study of PE in the composites has suggested that the interfacial bonding between Kenaf and PE appears to be ...
