KRT6A Promotes EMT and Cancer Stem Cell Transformation in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment, 2020
Aim: Keratin 6A is a type II cytokeratin which is important in forming nail bed, filiform papillae, the epithelial lining of oral mucosa, and esophagus; recently, keratin 6A was found hyperexpressed in different types of cancer.

Enhancing Physical Properties of Viscose by Preparing Viscose/Keratin/Nano ZnO Composite Fabric

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
The emulsion of Keratin nano ZnO was prepared by extracting the keratin from wool. Cellulose viscose fabric was treated by plasma and immersed in solution and by special chemical method the fabric was finished with keratin/ZnO.

Keratin Gene Expression Differences in Wool Follicles and Sequence Diversity of High Glycine-Tyrosine Keratin-Associated Proteins (Kaps) in Magra Sheep of India

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2020
Wool fibers consist of proteins with majority belongs to keratin family. Longitudinally arrayed keratin intermediate filaments constitute a matrix surrounded by keratin-associated proteins (KAPs).

Mutations in Homocysteine Metabolism Genes Increase Keratin N-Homocysteinylation and Damage in Mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Genomics, 2018
Genetic or nutritional deficiencies in homocysteine (Hcy) metabolism increase Hcy-thiolactone, which causes protein damage by forming isopetide bonds with lysine residues, generating N-Hcy-protein.

Structural heterogeneity of cellular K5/K14 filaments as revealed by cryo-electron microscopy

open access: yeseLife, 2021
Keratin intermediate filaments are an essential and major component of the cytoskeleton in epithelial cells. They form a stable yet dynamic filamentous network extending from the nucleus to the cell periphery, which provides resistance to mechanical ...

Sedimentation Studies of Epidermal Keratins. Keratin A and Keratin B [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1956
Electrophoretically homogeneous keratin A and keratin B were studied in the ultracentrifuge. Both preparations revealed two fractions: one which sedimented rapidly and another which sedimented slowly. This indicated that both preparations are heterogeneous with respect to particle size.

Development of Hair Keratin Protein to Accelerate Oral Mucosal Regeneration

open access: yes치위생과학회지, 2023
Background: In this study, we investigated the potential use of keratin for oral tissue regeneration. Keratin is well-known for its effectiveness in skin regeneration by promoting keratinization and enhancing the elasticity and activity of fibroblasts ...

Types I and II Keratin Intermediate Filaments.

open access: yesCold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Biology, 2018
Keratins-types I and II-are the intermediate-filament-forming proteins expressed in epithelial cells. They are encoded by 54 evolutionarily conserved genes (28 type I, 26 type II) and regulated in a pairwise and tissue type-, differentiation-, and ...
