Keratometry and post-operative astigmatism [PDF]

open access: yesEye, 1992
Total post-operative refractive astigmatism and keratometric corneal astigmatism were determined in patients following cataract surgery. By comparing the results of the two methods, the value of keratometry as a simple and quick procedure for identification of surgically induced astigmatic errors was established.

Bilateral simultaneous cataract surgery and intraocular lens implantation in an adult female chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) inducing monovision

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 457-464, March 2025.
Abstract Background Cataract is the major cause of visual impairment in humans. Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation is the standard technique for cataract treatment with a high success rate. In a few cases, the surgical cataract procedure and lens implantation have been applied in non‐human primates.

Corneal densitometry changes in keratoconus patients after intrastromal corneal ring segments implantation

open access: yesJournal of the Egyptian Ophthalmological Society
Background Keratoconus (KC) is an ectatic corneal disorder characterized by progressive corneal thinning with myopic astigmatism. Intrastromal corneal ring segments (ICRS) have been broadly selected as a surgical intervention for KC correction to delay ...

Awareness About Keratoconus and Its Relation With Eye Rubbing: A Cross‐Sectional Study in Riyadh

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Keratoconus is a progressive eye disease affecting the cornea, the clear dome‐ shaped structure at the front of the eye. In keratoconus, the cornea thins and bulges outward into a cone shape, leading to loss of visual acuity. The aetiology of keratoconus remains unclear, but it involves both genetic and environmental factors.
