Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect Driven by Spin Accumulation on Cu, Au, and Pt
The magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE) has recently been achieved on non-ferromagnetic metals by injecting spin currents. To use the magneto-optical Kerr effect as a quantitative tool, it is crucial to study the relationship between the Kerr rotation ...

Giant nonlinear Kerr effects [PDF]
Abstract The nonlinear second harmonic reflectivity of magnetic surfaces is found to display longitudinal nonlinear Kerr rotations that are three orders of magnitude larger than their linear equivalent. In the transversal geometry, similar enhancements are observed for the intensity changes.

Research Paper: Polar Kerr Effect in a Magnetized Plasma Layer [PDF]
In this paper, we investigate the polarization rotation of an electromagnetic beam reflected from a magnetized plasma layer. To this end, using a matrix method based on Maxwell’s equations, we derive the reflection coefficient and the polarization ...

Periodic orbits, basins of attraction and chaotic beats in two coupled Kerr oscillators [PDF]
Kerr oscillators are model systems which have practical applications in nonlinear optics. Optical Kerr effect i.e. interaction of optical waves with nonlinear medium with polarizability $\chi^{(3)}$ is the basic phenomenon needed to explain for example ...

Inverse transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect [PDF]
It is demonstrated that a static in-plane magnetic field is generated in a ferromagnetic film by p-polarised light obliquely incident on the film. This phenomenon can be called inverse transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect. The femtosecond laser pulse of peak intensity of 500 W/ m2 generates in nickel an effective magnetic field of about 100 Oe.
