Note on the effect of a massive accretion disk in the measurements of black hole spins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The spin measurement of black holes has important implications in physics and astrophysics. Regardless of the specific technique to estimate the black hole spin, all the current approaches assume that the space-time geometry around the compact object is ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Spatial-Dependent Hamiltonian Formulation of Cross-Mode Modulation

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
In the absence of random mode mixing (RMM), linearization of the cross-mode modulation (XMM) under pump-probe configuration is in general complicated because the evolution of the pump light depends on the local mode decomposition of itself. In this work,

Clinical Performance and Bonding Mechanism of Three Resin Adhesives

open access: yesMolecular Biology & Nanomedicine, 2021
Juxtaposed surfacescould be bond to achieve marginal sealing and adhesive of interfacebetween different kinds of substrate. Therefore, the purpose of the current study is to investigate the bonding strength of threecommon resin adhesives after bonding ...

Kerr coefficients of plasma resonances in Josephson junction chains

open access: yes, 2015
We present an experimental and theoretical analysis of the self- and cross-Kerr effect of extended plasma resonances in Josephson junction chains. We calculate the Kerr coefficients by deriving and diagonalizing the Hamiltonian of a linear circuit model ...

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

The band structures of three-dimensional nonlinear plasma photonic crystals

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
In this paper, the properties of the photonic band gaps (PBGs) for three-dimensional (3D) nonlinear plasma photonic crystals (PPCs) are theoretically investigated by the plane wave expansion method, whose equations for calculations also are deduced.

Magnetised Kerr/CFT correspondence

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
The tools of Kerr/CFT correspondence are applied to the Kerr black hole embedded in an axial external magnetic field. Its extremal near horizon geometry remains a warped and twisted product of AdS2×S2.

Meissner effect and holographic dual for the Melvin–Kerr–Newman–Taub–NUT spacetimes

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2023
We investigate correspondence between the Melvin–Kerr–Newman–Taub–NUT spacetime, and the conformal field theory. The near horizon geometry of extremal Melvin–Kerr–Newman–Taub–NUT spacetime possesses the $$SL\left( 2,{{\mathbb {R}}}\right) \times U\left ...

Raman-induced Kerr-effect dual-comb spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2012
We report on the first demonstration of nonlinear dual-frequency-comb spectroscopy. In multi-heterodyne femtosecond Raman-induced Kerr-effect spectroscopy, the Raman gain resulting from the coherent excitation of molecular vibrations by a spectrally-narrow pump is imprinted onto the femtosecond laser frequency comb probe spectrum.
