Optical Kerr type nonlinearity [PDF]
The origin of the Kerr type nonlinearity of the medium as a result of the interaction between photons via the Dirac delta-potential is presented in the formalism adopted from the photon wave function approach.

Complete quantum teleportation with a Kerr nonlinearity [PDF]
We present a scheme for the quantum teleportation of the polarization state of a photon employing a cross-Kerr medium. The experimental feasibility of the scheme is discussed and we show that, using the recently demonstrated ultraslow light propagation ...

Directional nonlinear couplers composed of two Kerr nonlinear waveguides are studied. Quantum consistent solutions of the equations of motion are obtained showing the collapses and revivals of the field mode amplitudes. The approximate method is also adopted for the contradirectional geometry and the switching accompanied by collapses of the modes is ...

Giant nonlinear Kerr effects [PDF]
Abstract The nonlinear second harmonic reflectivity of magnetic surfaces is found to display longitudinal nonlinear Kerr rotations that are three orders of magnitude larger than their linear equivalent. In the transversal geometry, similar enhancements are observed for the intensity changes.

Cross-Kerr nonlinearity: a stability analysis [PDF]
AbstractWe analyse the combined effect of the radiation-pressure and cross-Kerr nonlinearity on the stationary solution of the dynamics of a nanomechanical resonator interacting with an electromagnetic cavity. Within this setup,we show how the optical bistability picture induced by the radiation-pressure force is modi fied by the presence of the cross ...

Nonlinear Radiation Gauge for Near Kerr Spacetimes
AbstractIn this paper, we introduce and explore the properties of a new gauge choice for the vacuum Einstein equation inspired by the ingoing and outgoing radiation gauges (IRG, ORG) for the linearized vacuum Einstein equation introduced by Chrzanowski in his work on metric reconstruction (Chrzanowski in Phys Rev D 11:2042–2062, 1975) on the Kerr ...

Observation of Kerr nonlinearity and Kerr-like nonlinearity induced by terahertz generation in LiNbO3 [PDF]
Femtosecond laser pulses interacting with LiNbO3 have been widely applied in intense terahertz generation, excitation and imaging of phonon polaritons, and modulating light. It is of great importance to study the nonlinearities induced by femtosecond laser pulses in LiNbO3.
