Matching Key Recovery Mechanisms to Business Requirements

open access: yes, 2008
This paper addresses the business needs for key recovery as a countermeasure to the threat of losing potentially valuable information. Several requirements essential for a sound key recovery mechanism are described, and the applicability of two main ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Unveiling the heterogeneity and immunotherapy potency of tumor-associated neutrophils in the tumor microenvironment of gastric cancer

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Background The differentiation characteristics of neutrophils within the gastric cancer (GC) tumor microenvironment (TME) and their interactions with malignant gastric epithelial cells require further investigation. Furthermore, the therapeutic potential

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

The Mechanism Study of Fracture Porosity in High-Water-Cut Reservoirs

open access: yesEnergies
Many onshore oil fields currently adopt water flooding as a means to supplement reservoir energy. However, due to reservoir heterogeneity, significant differences in permeability exist not only between different reservoirs but also within the same ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Key Recovery Attack on QuiSci [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper shows a key recovery attack on QuiSci (quick stream cipher), designed by Stefan Müller (FGAN-FHR, a German research institute) in 2001. With one or few know plaintexts it\u27s possible to recover most of the key with negligible time complexity.
