MAK-2 Kinase Is Required for Extended Longevity and Enhanced Stress Resistance Resulting From Mild Impairment of Mitochondrial Function in isp-1 Mutants. [PDF]
Lifespan extension resulting from the mild impairment of mitochondrial function in long‐lived isp‐1 mutants is dependent on multiple kinase signaling pathways involved in mitochondria‐to‐nucleus communication. These pathways include the MAK‐2 kinase as well as a MLK‐1/MEK‐1/KGB‐1 kinase signaling pathway.

High-elevation adaptation and gestational hypoxia jointly shape vascular development in a rodent placenta. [PDF]
Abstract figure legend We investigated how environmental hypoxia and genetic adaptation to high altitudes jointly impact the development of the placental exchange surface in ways that might protect fetal growth potential. We used wild‐derived, lab‐born North American deer mice (Peromyscus maniculatus) from low‐elevation and high‐elevation environments (

Extended Ultraviolet Disks and Ultraviolet-bright Disks in Low-mass E/S0 Galaxies [PDF]
We have identified 15 extended ultraviolet (XUV) disks in a largely field sample of 38 E/S0 galaxies that have stellar masses primarily below ~4 × 10^(10) M_☉ and comparable numbers on the red and blue sequences. We use a new purely quantitative XUV-disk

The Disinformation Activities of the KGB of Lithuanian SSR and Protection of Secrets in 1954–1991
Competition between the USA and USSR during the Cold War was concurrent with spying and protection of secrets. Those targets were implemented by various measures. Disinformation was an exceptionally important method among them.

James' Submodule Theorem and the Steinberg Module [PDF]
James' submodule theorem is a fundamental result in the representation theory of the symmetric groups and the finite general linear groups. In this note we consider a version of that theorem for a general finite group with a split $BN$-pair.

Designing Horndeski and the effective fluid approach [PDF]
We present a family of designer Horndeski models, i.e. models that have a background exactly equal to that of the $\Lambda$CDM model but perturbations given by the Horndeski theory.
