Editorial: Immunity and Inflammatory Response in Kidney Stone Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Kidney stone disease (or nephrolithiasis) is a common urological disorder causing significant morbidity and financial burden in both genders at all ages around the globe (1). Its prevalence is increasing universally at an alarming rate (2–5).

Optimum Nutrition for Kidney Stone Disease

open access: yes, 2013
We summarize the data regarding the associations of individual dietary components with kidney stones and the effects on 24-hour urinary profiles. the therapeutic recommendations for stone prevention that result from these studies are applied where ...

Nucleoside‐Modified mRNA Encoding Alpha‐Galactosidase A Ameliorates Fabry Disease Phenotypes in Human IPSC‐Derived Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Human iPSC‐derived Fabry cardiomyocytes exhibited broad transcriptional dysregulation, apoptosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, impaired reactive oxygen species handling, altered contractility, and abnormal calcium transient decay, potentially mediated by phospholamban hyperphosphorylation.

A spatially anchored transcriptomic atlas of the human kidney papilla identifies significant immune injury in patients with stone disease

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Kidney stone disease causes significant morbidity and increases health care utilization. In this work, we decipher the cellular and molecular niche of the human renal papilla in patients with calcium oxalate (CaOx) stone disease and healthy subjects.

Overcoming Drug Resistance by Paclitaxel Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the murine triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) model, chemotherapy effectively increases tumor neoantigen burden (TNB). Here, the study constructs a liposomal nanovaccine using antigens derived from in vitro chemotherapy‐treated paclitaxel‐resistant TNBC 4T1 cells.

Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Kidney Stone Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2020
Mitochondrion is a pivotal intracellular organelle that plays crucial roles in regulation of energy production, oxidative stress, calcium homeostasis, and apoptosis. Kidney stone disease (nephrolithiasis/urolithiasis), particularly calcium oxalate (CaOx;

Phenotypic characterization of kidney stone formers by endoscopic and histological quantification of intra-renal calcification

open access: yes, 2013
Interstitial Randall's plaques and collecting duct plugs are distinct forms of renal calcification thought to provide sites for stone retention within the kidney.

Hyper‐Intense Tumor Peripheral Accumulation of Antibody‐Conjugated Iron Oxide Nanoparticles can Enable Breast Cancer Detection by Magnetic Particle Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐associated inflammation retains antibody‐targeted or non‐specific antibody conjugated nanoparticles within the tumor microenvironment. Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) enables non‐invasive detection and differentiation of tumors from other organs, owing to higher nanoparticle retention by inflammatory cells in the tumor periphery.

A Dual‐Membrane Biomimetic Nanoplatform Enables Triple‐Modal Therapy Against SARS‐CoV‐2 Through Viral Decoy, Inflammation Neutralizing, and Intracellular RNAi

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
[A&T]MLN is a triple‐modal nanoplatform with siRNA‐loaded LN coated with hybrid ACE2/macrophage membrane. It blocks viral entry, neutralizes IL‐6/IL‐1β/TNF‐α, and delivers siRNA to suppress viral replication. In a murine lung injury model, it attenuates inflammation, offering a multi‐pronged strategy against SARS‐CoV‐2 variants and hyperinflammation ...
