The results of different-extension geological survey, exploration and thematic work methods show that the Vilyui syneclise is relatively amagmatic. However, the recent factual evidence in this region indicates the occurrence of magmatism of a different ...

Abstract The Hudson Bay Lowlands (HBL) of northern Ontario, a globally significant carbon store, are characterized by expansive peatland complexes of patterned bogs and fens, which play a vital role in regional water regulation. These peatlands are threatened by disturbance from large‐scale resource extraction and projected climate change, both of ...

Abstract The 369 m deep M4 drill hole, located ~18 km NNW of the center of the 146 Ma Morokweng impact structure (MIS), intersects shocked Archean granitoid gneisses and subsidiary dolerite intrusions that are cut by faults, cataclasites and mm‐ to m‐wide suevitic and pseudotachylitic breccia dikes.

Multistep evolution of harzburgitic mantle underneath pipe 200 kimberlite, northern Lesotho: a study on xenoliths and their implication on diamond-barren nature of pipe 200 kimberlite [PDF]
The Pipe 200 kimberlite in northern Lesotho on the southeast margin of the Kaapvaal Craton is a diamond-poor deposit despite its proximity to economically viable kimberlites like the Liqhobong kimberlite.

Abstract The Charity Shoal structure is a circular, ∼1.2‐km‐diameter, bedrock‐rimmed shoal in eastern Lake Ontario with a ∼20‐m‐deep central basin. The structure has been proposed as a possible Middle Ordovician impact crater or volcanic intrusion. We conducted marine seismic and magnetic surveys (9‐km2) and 3‐D geophysical modeling to better resolve ...

Magnetic surface geometry inversion of Kimberlites in Botswana
Abstract Surface geometry inversion of geophysical data has recently been introduced as an effective approach for generating surface‐based geological models. The models obtained through surface geometry inversion clearly delineate the contacts between distinct rock units, making them easily interpretable by geologists.

Time constraints on the formation of lithospheric mantle beneath cratons: a re-Os isotope and platinum group element study of peridotite xenoliths from northern Canada and Lesotho, [PDF]
Understanding the generation and evolution of cratonic lithospheric keels requires detailed knowledge of their age, timescale of formation, and the relationship between the crust and mantle part of the lithosphere.

A petrological and geochemical reappraisal of the Mesoproterozoic diamondiferous Majhgawan pipe of central India: evidence for transitional kimberlite – orangeite (group II kimberlite) – lamproite rock type [PDF]
The Mesoproterozoic diamondiferous Majhgawan pipe of central India is re-examined in the light of new and recently published petrological, geochemical and isotope data. This investigation reveals that its tectonic setting is similar to that of lamproites
