Kyanite-bearing eclogite xenoliths from the Udachnaya kimberlite, Siberian craton, Russia [PDF]

open access: yesBSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin, 2017
Xenoliths brought up by kimberlite magmas are rare samples of otherwise inaccessible lithospheric mantle. Eclogite xenoliths are found in most cratons and commonly show a range of mineral and chemical compositions that can be used to better understand ...

Geochemistry of forty‐one eclogitic and pyroxenitic mantle xenoliths from the Central Slave Craton, Canada (Ekati Diamond Mine)

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 11, Issue 4, Page 825-832, October 2024.
Xenoliths from the Ekati kimberlite (Slave Craton, Canada) (left) show a large range of neodymium (εNd) and strontium isotopic ratios. Abstract This article describes a novel dataset on non‐diamondiferous eclogite and garnet pyroxenite xenoliths from four kimberlite pipes of the Ekati Diamond Mine (Central Slave Craton, Canada).

Geological and Petrographic Characteristics of Kimberlite Pipes

open access: yesВестник Пермского университета. Геология, 2016
Studies of the geological structure and petrochemical composition of the Siberian Platform kimberlites indicated complexity, diversity of geological, tectonic, and paleogeographic situations, which must be considered for proper prospecting-exploration for diamonds in each area of investigation.

Confocal Raman spectroscopic study of melt inclusions from peridotite xenoliths in economic and barren kimberlites from Kaapvaal Craton

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 55, Issue 10, Page 1090-1104, October 2024.
Olivine‐hosted secondary melt inclusions in xenoliths from five Kaapvaal craton kimberlites of variable diamond grade do not show difference in composition. The composition of 26 minerals identified in the daughter phases suggests carbonate melt rich in alkali, sulfur, chlorine, and phosphorus infiltrated the kimberlite xenoliths.

Characteristics and alteration origins of matrix minerals in volcaniclastic kimberlite of the Muskox pipe (Nunavut, Canada) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The matrix of volcaniclastic kimberlite (VK) from the Muskox pipe (Northern Slave Province, Nunavut, Canada) is interpreted to represent an overprint of an original clastic matrix.

LITHOLOGY OF KIMBERLITE PIPE ORFICE OF CAMACHIA

open access: yesCollection of Scientific Works of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, 2014

When a Plateau Suppresses a Plume: Disappearance of the Samoan Plume Under the Ontong Java Plateau

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 5, Issue 4, August 2024.
Abstract The Samoan hotspot generated an age‐progressive volcanic track that can be traced back to 24 Ma at Alexa Bank, but the trace of the older portion (>24 Ma) of the hotspot track is unclear. We show that six seamounts located in and around the Magellan Seamount chain—north of the Ontong‐Java Plateau (OJP)—have ages (87–106 Ma), geochemistry, and ...

Criteria for interpreting kimberlite as coherent: Insights from the Muskox and Jericho kimberlites (Nunavut, Canada) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The Jurassic Muskox and Jericho kimberlites (Northern Slave Province, Nunavut, Canada) contain a variety of facies exhibiting different geometries, contact relationships, internal organisation, country rock abundance and olivine shapes, although many ...

Crater formation and erosional truncation of Arkhangelskaya kimberlite pipe (Russia)

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Геология и разведка, 2019
The Late Devonian kimberlite pipes Arkhangelskaya, Pionerskaya, named after Grib, as well as a number of other pipes, have full sections of crater tufogenic and terrigenous deposits in the Zimneberezhny diamondiferous region, the thickness of which is ...

Ancient Craton‐Wide Mid‐Lithosphere Discontinuity Controlled by Pargasite Channels

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 9, 16 May 2024.
Abstract The mechanisms governing a commonly observed seismic velocity drop in the cratonic lithosphere, referred to as the mid‐lithospheric discontinuity (MLD), have been widely debated. To identify the composition and seismic structure of MLDs, we have analyzed Sp receiver functions (SRF) and mantle xenocrysts for six regions across Australia.
