Highly Dynamic Soft Electrohydraulic Origami Actuators for Agile and Multimodal Robotic Locomotion

open access: yesSmartBot, EarlyView.
Most current soft robots still lag far behind their natural counterparts in both agility and speed, mainly attributed to the limited morphing modes and performance of soft actuators. Here, the authors report a new methodology of electrohydraulic origami (EHO) for creating powerful and multimodal soft actuators with large strain, high speed, lightweight,

Two‐Photon Microbubble Printing: Asymmetric Assembly for Continuous Laser Writing

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Two‐photon microbubble printing is reported that combines nonlinear photochemistry with thermally driven fluid dynamics. At the laser focus, a distorted vapor bubble induce a strong rear‐to‐front convective flow. By enabling asymmetric assembly, this method allows the continuous formation of nanoparticle aggregates from a wide variety of materials ...

Topography‐Free Dual‐Lubricant Patterned Slippery Surfaces for Programmable Droplet Control and High‐Performance Water Harvesting

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A patterned dual‐lubricant SLIPS creates interfacial energy asymmetry, guiding droplet migration without external actuation. Condensed droplets formed on the fluorinated‐oil‐infused regions migrate to the silicone‐oil‐infused domains, where rapid growth and coalescence occur.

Ultrathin Freestanding MoSiN Nanocomposite Membranes as Efficient High‐Temperature Mid‐Infrared Thermal Emitters

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Ultrathin freestanding MoSiN nanocomposite membranes are developed as stable and efficient mid‐infrared emitters for gas sensing under extreme thermal conditions. A 12 nm‐thick membrane combines intermetallic phases for enhanced IR absorption with a dielectric phase for mechanical stability.
