The Study of Compositions and Methods of Supplying New Fuels with Additives of Brassica Rapa Oil to the Diesel

open access: yesИнженерные технологии и системы, 2023
Introduction. Physico-chemical properties of the diesel fuel emulsion with Brassica rapa oil and ethanol have been studied. The use of blended fuel does not make structural changes in the engine, but only the improvement of the attachments: the power ...

Colloidal Heterostructures Enable Interfacial Transport of Immiscible Molecules in Printable Organohydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Multiphase printable organohydrogels with tunable microstructures are developed to control molecular transport pathways for immiscible cargo. The tortuosity and domain size of the colloidal phases are tuned by adjusting temperature and shear during processing, which enables the tailoring of diffusion kinetics due to different transport pathways.

An optimization study by response surface methodology (RSM) on viscosity reduction of residue fuel oil exposed ultrasonic waves and solvent injection [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 2016
In this study, response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD) was applied for investigation of the effects of ultrasonic waves, temperature and solvent concentration on viscosity reduction of residue fuel oil (RFO). Ultrasonic

Axisymmetric Magnetorotational Instability in Viscous Accretion Disks

open access: yes, 2008
Axisymmetric magnetorotational instability (MRI) in viscous accretion disks is investigated by linear analysis and two-dimensional nonlinear simulations. The linear growth of the viscous MRI is characterized by the Reynolds number defined as $R_{\rm MRI}

Initial value problem for the free boundary magnetohydrodynamics with zero magnetic boundary condition

open access: yes, 2017
We show local existence and uniqueness of plasma(fluid)-vaccum free boundary problem of magnetohydrodynamic flow in three-dimensional space with infinite depth setting when magnetic field is zero on the free boundary.

Anti‐Slip Material‐Based Strategies and Approaches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review highlights the principle mechanisms of slipping at the microscale, linking contact mechanics with a friction behavior model for surface interfaces. Main strategies to develop anti‐slip properties to the surfaces are discussed alongside standardized testing approaches.

Lattice Boltzmann Method for mixtures at variable Schmidt number

open access: yes, 2014
When simulating multicomponent mixtures via the Lattice Boltzmann Method, it is desirable to control the mutual diffusivity between species while maintaining the viscosity of the solution fixed.

Development of Heat Engines Powered by Twisted and Coiled Polymer Fiber Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Continuously rotating engines driven by thermally responsive actuating materials can turn waste heat into useful energy. For the first time heat engines operated by twisted and coiled polymer fiber actuators are demonstrated with engine design guided by two simple analytical models.

Potential of using polyethylene as viscosity enhancer of palm oil to use as a lubricating oil

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
Biodegradable vegetable oil-based lubricating oil is a better auxiliary for mineral-based lubricants as their viscosity index, flash point, lubricity is high.
