Turbulent Kinetic Energy in the Energy Balance of a Solar Flare [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
The energy released in solar flares derives from a reconfiguration of magnetic fields to a lower energy state, and is manifested in several forms, including bulk kinetic energy of the coronal mass ejection, acceleration of electrons and ions, and enhanced thermal energy that is ultimately radiated away across the electromagnetic spectrum from optical ...

Can the Hartree–Fock kinetic energy exceed the exact kinetic energy?

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2022
The Hartree–Fock (HF) approximation has been an important tool for quantum-chemical calculations since its earliest appearance in the late 1920s and remains the starting point of most single-reference methods in use today. Intuition suggests that the HF kinetic energy should not exceed the exact kinetic energy; but no proof of this conjecture exists ...

Parametric, Semiparametric, and Semi-Nonparametric Estimates of the Kinetic Energy of Ordered Air Motion and Wind Outliers in the Atmospheric Boundary Layer from Minisodar Measurements

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
In the present work, we analyze the spatiotemporal dynamics of the kinetic wind energy with and without allowance for the kinetic energy of outliers. We first separated the contributions of the mean kinetic energy and the kinetic energy of the outliers ...

Energy Dissipation in Magnetic Islands Formed during Magnetic Reconnection

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Magnetic reconnection converts magnetic energy into particle kinetic energy, and satellite observations have shown that 20%–50% of magnetic energy is channeled into electron kinetic energy.

Rectilinear car motions taking into account the elasticity and deformability of tires [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2023
In this paper, the problem of developing a mathematical model of rectilinear motion of a car is solved, taking into account the elasticity and deformability of tires, as well as, for the same radii of the wheels of the car, and taking into account plane ...

A comparative study on the analysis of hemodynamics in the athlete’s heart

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the development of the athlete’s heart are still poorly understood. To characterize the intracavitary blood flows in the right ventricle (RV) and right-ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) in 2 healthy probands ...

Ocean kinetic energy and photosynthetic biomass are important drivers of planktonic foraminifera diversity in the Atlantic Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
To assess the anthropogenic effect on biodiversity, it is essential to understand the global diversity distribution of the major groups at the base of the food chain, ideally before global warming initiation (1850 Common Era CE).

Nonlinear chiral kinetic theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
From quantum field theory, we derive the chiral kinetic theory involving nonlinear quantum corrections coupled with spacetime-dependent electromagnetic fields and fluid velocity gradients. An equilibrium Wigner function determined by the kinetic equation verifies the nondissipativeness of the charge induced by the magneto-vortical coupling.
