Evaluation of the effect of metal stents on dose perturbation in the carbon beam irradiation field
Abstract Propose Carbon ion therapy is indicated for cases in which stents have been inserted, such as bile ducts, but the effect of metal stents on carbon ion therapy is unclear. In this study, the dose perturbation of carbon ion therapy caused by metallic bile duct stents was evaluated by dosimetry. Materials and methods Five different types of metal

Kinetic energy transfer during the serve [PDF]
Several studies have established the pattern used in the over arm hitting and throwing movements, however to date there has not been one which statistically expresses the Kinetic Link Principle of the tennis serve. The main goals of this study were: first to investigate the kinetic energy transmission pattern using a complete mechanical body model and ...

Abstract The establishment of guidelines and curriculum standards for medical physics residency training is a critical component of setting expectations and competencies for the profession. Since the last publication of these standards, residency training has become integrated into the eligibility criteria for most medical physics certification bodies.

On the dissipation of kinetic energy in the atmosphere
After a discussion of some general aspects of the atmospheric energy cycle results from computations of the frictional changes of kinetic energy are given. Large losses of kinetic energy are found in the boundary layer and in the region near the tropopause below the level of maximum wind.

Energy transfer, pressure tensor and heating of kinetic plasma
Kinetic plasma turbulence cascade spans multiple scales ranging from macroscopic fluid flow to sub-electron scales. Mechanisms that dissipate large scale energy, terminate the inertial range cascade and convert kinetic energy into heat are hotly debated.

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
