Warped Fermions and Precision Tests

open access: yes, 2004
We analyze the behavior of Standard Model matter propagating in a slice of AdS_5 in the presence of infrared-brane kinetic terms. Brane kinetic terms are naturally generated through radiative corrections and can also be present at tree level.

Calculating glass-forming ability in absence of key kinetic and thermodynamic parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Glass-forming ability (GFA) as defined by a critical cooling rate R_c to vitrify a liquid upon solidification is a complex function of many parameters.

Effects of Biological Sex and Age on Cerebrospinal Fluid Markers—A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is a key diagnostic tool for neurological diseases. To date, only a few studies have investigated in larger cohorts the effect of age and biological sex on diagnostic markers extracted from CSF. Methods For this retrospective observational study, 4163 CSF findings (2012–2020) were evaluated.

Effect of Interaction between SDS and Tween 80 on Nucleation Behavior of Electrodeposited Copper Powder

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2020
To study the electrochemical behavior of surfactants (sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and Tween 80) during the deposition process, the electrocrystallization mechanism of copper powder was determined.

Characterization of Kinetic and Kinematic Parameters for Wearable Robotics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The design process of a wearable robotic device for human assistance requires the characterization of both kinetic and kinematic parameters (KKP) of the human joints. The first step in this process is to extract the KKP from different gait analyses studies. This work is based on the human lower limb considering the following activities of daily living (

Relationship Between Neurologic Symptoms and Signs and FMR1 Genotype in Premutation Carriers

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Fragile X‐associated Tremor/Ataxia Syndrome (FXTAS) is the most severe late‐onset condition caused by a premutation in the FMR1 gene, characterized by expanded CGG triplet repeats of 55–200. Clinical presentations of FXTAS, including gait ataxia, kinetic tremor, cognitive decline, and rare Parkinsonism, are linked to ...

Comparing the Bio-Hydrogen Production Potential of Pretreated Rice Straw Co-Digested with Seeded Sludge Using an Anaerobic Bioreactor under Mesophilic Thermophilic Conditions

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Three common pretreatments (mechanical, steam explosion and chemical) used to enhance the biodegradability of rice straw were compared on the basis of bio-hydrogen production potential while co-digesting rice straw with sludge under mesophilic (37 °C ...

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.

Classification of Biodegradability by Growth Kinetic Parameters

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 1994
On the basis of classical Monod equations for microbial growth, kinetic parameter values are assessed to enable the characterization of biodegradability as a substance property. Although growth is a microbial property, the substance selects those species from a mixed inoculum that can profit at most under the prevailing conditions.
