Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Global Robustness vs. Local Vulnerabilities in Complex Synchronous Networks

open access: yes, 2019
In complex network-coupled dynamical systems, two questions of central importance are how to identify the most vulnerable components and how to devise a network making the overall system more robust to external perturbations.

A Topology Optimization Framework for the Inverse Design of Nonlinear Mechanical Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work uses topology optimization to design unit cells for mechanical metamaterials with a prescribed nonlinear stress–strain response. The framework adds contact and postbuckling modeling to synthesize microstructures for three highly nonlinear responses, including pseudoductile behavior, monostable with snap‐through buckling, and bistable ...

Robustness of Synchrony in Complex Networks and Generalized Kirchhoff Indices

open access: yes, 2018
In network theory, a question of prime importance is how to assess network vulnerability in a fast and reliable manner. With this issue in mind, we investigate the response to parameter changes of coupled dynamical systems on complex networks.

On the Laplacian, the Kirchhoff Index, and the Number of Spanning Trees of the Linear Pentagonal Derivation Chain

open access: yesAxioms, 2022
Let Pn be a pentagonal chain with 2n pentagons in which two pentagons with two edges in common can be regarded as adding one vertex and two edges to a hexagon.

Expected Value of Multiplicative Degree-Kirchhoff Index in Random Polygonal Chains.

open access: yesMathematical biosciences and engineering : MBE, 2023
The multiplicative degree-Kirchhoff index is a significant topological index. This paper is devoted to the exact formulas for the expected value of the multiplicative degree-Kirchhoff index in random polygonal chains. Moreover, on the basis of the result

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.

Thermally Engineered Sodium‐Embedded Alumina with Programmable Synaptic Plasticity for Neuromorphic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fully transparent, all‐metal‐oxide neuromorphic transistor using a sodium‐embedded alumina (SEA) electrolyte is demonstrated. By precisely tuning the thermal annealing process, the chemical composition of the SEA layer is controlled, allowing for the deterministic realization of both short‐term and long‐term synaptic plasticity within the same device

On the noncooperative Schrödinger–Kirchhoff system involving the critical nonlinearities on the Heisenberg group

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2022
This paper deals with the existence of solutions for the noncooperative Schrödinger–Kirchhoff system involving the p-Laplacian operator and critical nonlinearities on the Heisenberg group.

A majorization method for localizing graph topological indices

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a unified approach for localizing some relevant graph topological indices via majorization techniques. Through this method, old and new bounds are derived and numerical examples are provided, showing how former results in the ...
