Vaginal host–microbe signatures linked to placental outcomes in mares

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Ascending placentitis is a leading cause of late‐term pregnancy loss in mares. Although pathogens are presumed to ascend from the caudal reproductive tract, the association between the vaginal microbiome and placentitis has not been systematically examined.

Diagnosis of bacteraemia in neonatal foals using 16S rRNA high‐throughput sequencing

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sepsis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in foals. Early diagnosis can improve outcome but is complicated by non‐specific clinical signs and delayed confirmation of infection via blood culture. Molecular assays represent a rapid and more sensitive alternative.

Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia

open access: yesHeart & Lung, 1997
Klebsiella pneumoniae is an uncommon cause of community-acquired pneumonia except in alcoholics. Klebsiella may mimic pulmonary reactivation tuberculosis because it presents with hemoptysis and cavitating lesions. Klebsiella pneumoniae is a difficult infection to treat because of the organism's thick capsule.

Duct‐level evaluation of mammary gland health, somatic cell count and bacterial flora in lactating jennies

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Assessing mammary gland health in donkeys is challenging due to the lack of species‐specific diagnostic criteria for subclinical mastitis. Although somatic cell count (SCC) is widely used in dairy ruminants, its diagnostic value in jennies remains unclear.

Antibacterial Activity of Cell-Free Supernatants of Probiotic Lactobacillus against Bacterial Pathogens Associated with Vaginal Infections

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology
Vaginal infections are common female disease conditions that account for the prevalence of gynecological disorders which facilitate the increasing antimicrobial resistance and failure of prevalent treatment choices.

Maternal and infant gut microbiome

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
The maternal–infant continuum involves critical windows of host–microbiota co‐adaptation. Preconception, maternal and paternal microbiomes modulate immunity and reproduction. During pregnancy, a gut–placenta axis emerges, where microbial metabolites influence fetal growth or contribute to complications like gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM ...

The plant microbiome: From ecological foundations to precision microbial engineering for sustainable agriculture

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
From ecological principles to precision engineering of plant microbiomes for sustainable agriculture. The plant holobiont integrates diverse microbial niches (including rhizosphere, endosphere, phyllosphere, seed, and aerial‐root mucilagesphere), host genetics (namely M genes), and host metabolites. Furthermore, molecular dialogues, including rhizobial

Rising Trend of Colistin Resistance and Shift in Minimum Inhibitory Concentrations Toward the Higher Side Among Enterobacteriaceae Isolated from Clinical Samples

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth
Background: The emergence of multidrug resistance (MDR) bacteria is a major global health issue that arises a concern for humanity especially when fewer options for antibiotics are available.
