Knee Injuries in Tennis

Clinics in Sports Medicine, 1988
Racquet sports involve sharp, side-to-side movements and impose significant valgus and rotatory stresses on the knee. Most knee injuries are indirect as a result of these acute stresses and overuse. Some of the more common racquet sport injuries include tennis leg, jumper's knee, patello-femoral pain, meniscal injuries, bursitis, and tendinitis.

Sports injuries of the knee

Current Opinion in Rheumatology, 1999
In spite of considerable research efforts, knee injuries continue to plague athletes. The rate of occurrence may actually be increasing. Particularly vulnerable to injury because of its anatomic location, the knee sustains a tremendous amount of force during sports.

Knee and Leg Injuries

Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 2020
Knee and leg injuries are extremely common presentations to the emergency department. Understanding the anatomy of the knee, particularly the vasculature and ligamentous structures, can help emergency physicians (EPs) diagnose and manage these injuries. Use of musculoskeletal ultrasonography can further aid EPs through the diagnostic process.

Overuse Injuries of the Knee

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Clinics of North America, 2009
Overuse injuries are a common cause of morbidity in athletes. They occur after repetitive microtrauma, abnormal joint alignment, and poor training technique without appropriate time to heal. Overuse injuries are frequent in the knee joint because of the numerous attachment sites for lower limb musculature and tendons surrounding the joint.
