Perspective: Hollow Core Optical Fibres for Ultraviolet and Visible Wavelengths

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow core optical fibres bypass material constraints that limit optical fibres at ultraviolet and visible wavelengths. However, their challenging fabrication has limited their development, and significant gains in performance remain possible. In this perspective we outline approaches to enable the next generation of fibres for shorter wavelengths ...

A method for lipoprotein (a) Isolation from a small volume of plasma with applications for clinical research

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
High levels of circulating Lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)] are an independent risk factor for CVD. One of the major limitations to investigating Lp(a) biology is the need for large volumes of plasma (4–10 mL) for its isolation.

Knight\u27s Challenge Answered [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Only one solution was received for the Five-Jog Knight puzzle contest posed in the November Word Ways. Submitted in mid-December, editor Jeremiah Farrell\u27s solution managed to achieve a 20/20 Collegiate score, which is to say that every word in its 20-

NMR investigation of the Knight shift anomaly in CeIrIn5 at high magnetic fields

open access: yes, 2013
We report nuclear magnetic resonance Knight shift data in the heavy fermion material CeIrIn5 at fields up to 30 T. The Knight shift of the In displays a strong anomaly, and we analyze the results using two different interpretations.

The Transcription Factor FgSge1 Harnesses the SAGA Complex to Activate Mycotoxin Biosynthesis and Fungal Virulence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the molecular mechanism by which the transcription factor FgSge1 regulates mycotoxin biosynthesis and virulence in Fusarium graminearum. FgSge1 binds to the TAARGTTT cis‐element, enabling self‐activation. It recruits the SAGA complex, promotes histone acetylation, and facilitates jet‐like chromatin remodeling, thereby activating ...

Data scrambler knight tour algorithm

open access: yesSistemnì Doslìdženâ ta Informacìjnì Tehnologìï
Nowadays, data scrambling remains a vital technique to protect sensitive information by shuffling it in a way that makes it difficult to decipher or reverse-engineer while still maintaining its usability for legitimate purposes.

Thematic Knight\u27s Tour Quotes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
Knight\u27s Tour Quotes (KTQs), also called Knight\u27s Tour Crypts, are a word puzzle enjoying a new vogue in the National Puzzlers\u27 League since David Silverman reintroduced them in 1973.

Spin Susceptibility of the Topological Superconductor UPt3 from Polarized Neutron Diffraction

open access: yes, 2017
Experiment and theory indicate that UPt3 is a topological superconductor in an odd-parity state, based in part from temperature independence of the NMR Knight shift.

Transmission of Radio‐Frequency Waves and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in Lanthanum Superhydrides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
1H NMR and radio‐frequency transmission measurements of lanthanum superhydrides at 165 GPa reveals a transition at 260–280 K by a strong suppression of the signal intensity, significant changes in NMR spectra, including a dramatic decrease of the relaxation rate 1/T1T, and pronounced shielding effect, which may have a superconducting nature.

The 12th century sword of San Galgano in the Hermitage of Montesiepi in Tuscany. A Transmission of the Arthurian Legend?

open access: yesFasciculi Archaeologiae Historicae, 2014
The High Middle Ages, when Galgano Guidotti (1148-1181), a Tuscan from Chiusdino lived, was an especially turbulent epoch. In the territory of Tuscany groups of wealthy nobility were active, claiming more political influence.
