Painless Biosensing for Non‐Invasive Health Monitoring: Advances, Platforms and Future Directions

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Non‐invasive biosensing has expanded blood‐based diagnostics into a growing set of accessible peripheral biofluids, yet most existing reviews remain confined to sweat, tears, saliva and urine, and treat the underlying literature descriptively rather than critically.

Do cultural taboos regulate hunting in transitioning Indigenous communities? The case of the Idu Mishmi of Northeast India

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 10, Page 3402-3415, October 2026.
Abstract There is rising recognition of resource‐use rights of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) within wildlife conservation. Historically, sociocultural institutions ensured wildlife sustainability in many IPLC areas. However, the future viability of such institutions is uncertain as IPLCs change in response to external pressures and ...

Small Leucine‐Rich Proteoglycans in Cancer: Three Decades of Discovery

open access: yesProteoglycan Research, Volume 4, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Small leucine‐rich proteoglycans (SLRPs) are a well‐known family of extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules. They consist of five classes with 18 different protein cores originally recognized as having a physically supportive component to the extracellular structure and tissue integrity.

Dual‐Functionality, Bio‐Friendly Artificial Muscles for Actuation and Motion Sensing in Smart Wearable Systems

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 59, 22 October 2026.
This work presents a biofriendly carbon nanotube yarn artificial muscle operating either as an in‐air unipolar actuator or as a self‐powered ionotronic strain sensor. Using a non‐volatile eutectogel‐derived electrolyte, the system achieves up to 2.9% contraction and 0.5 mV/% strain sensing sensitivity.

Future Decline of Ice‐Algal Primary Productivity in the Arctic Ocean: Model Intercomparison

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract A potential future evolution of ice‐algal primary productivity (ice‐PP) in the Arctic Ocean is investigated through an intercomparison of three sea ice‐ocean coupled models: JAM (Japan), IOS (Canada), and UTAS (Australia). Ice‐PP and related environmental variables are analyzed for three time periods: 1979–2018 (Phase 1), 2021–2060 (Phase 2 ...
