THE BEHAVIOUR OF RIB 1:1 AND 2:2 KNITTED COTTON FABRICS DURING DIFFERENT SOLICITATIONS AND TREATMENTS [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Oradea: Fascicle of Textiles, Leatherwork, 2020
The paper presents a study of the behaviour of rib 1:1 and 2:2 knitted fabrics made of 100 % cotton yarns during different solicitations and treatments. The studied knits were grey and finished fabrics obtained on large circular knitting machines in the ...

Yarn Damage Evaluation in the Flat Knitting Process

open access: yesAUTEX Research Journal, 2020
Textile yarns are subjected to numerous types of forces during knitting, usually leading to yarn damages, such as decrease in tensile, bending, shearing, and surface properties, which are closely related to different yarn properties, knitted structures ...

Knit sketching [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2021
We present a novel workflow to design and program knitted garments for industrial whole-garment knitting machines. Inspired by traditional garment making based on cutting and sewing, we propose a sketch representation with additional annotations necessary to model the knitting process.

Coupling Programs and Visualization for Machine Knitting [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium on Computational Fabrication, 2020
To effectively program knitting machines, like any fabrication machine, users must be able to place the code they write in correspondence with the output the machine produces. This mapping is used in the code-to-output direction to understand what their code will produce, and in the output-to-code direction to debug errors in the finished product.

Optimization of Heating Performance of the Rib-Knitted Wearable Heating Pad

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
Textile structures such as knitting, weaving, braiding, and nonwoven can be used to produce wearable heating pads. Knitted fabric has unique properties such as stretchability, flexibility, and comfort among these textile structures.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Creep Properties and Deformation Mechanism of Additively Manufactured NiAl‐CrMo Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured NiAl‐CrMo composites contain numerous interfaces and cell boundaries that control their creep response. At 700°C under high applied stress, creep is dominated by dislocation‐controlled power‐law mechanisms. At 800°C–900°C and lower stresses, creep is primarily diffusion‐controlled along cell boundaries.
