The phase diagram of KNO3–RbNO3

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2012
The phase diagram of the binary system KNO3–RbNO3 was studied using simultaneous direct and differential thermal analysis technique and differential scanning calorimetry. This system exhibits six invariants: a eutectic at 293 °C, four eutectoid reactions at 109, 157, 159, and 291 °C, respectively, and a peritectoid one at 288 °C.

Measurement of thermophysical properhes of KNO3

Thermochimica Acta, 1991
Abstract The thermal properties, specific heat capacity Cp, thermal conductivity λ and thermal diffusivity a of KNO3 were measured in the temperature range 300–500 K. Specific heat capacity measurements indicate the presence of a structural phase transition from orthorhombic to rhombohedral at 408 K.

The phase diagram of KNO3–KClO3

Thermochimica Acta, 2004
Abstract The binary phase diagram of KNO 3 –KClO 3 is studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and high-temperature X-ray diffraction. The limited solid solutions, K(NO 3 ) 1− x (ClO 3 ) x (0 x 3 ) 1− x (ClO 3 ) x (0.90 x 3 -based solid solutions and KClO 3 -based solid solutions phase, respectively.

Premelting, Melting, and Degradation Properties of Molten Alkali Nitrates: LiNO3, NaNO3, KNO3, and Binary NaNO3-KNO3

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 2018
A simultaneous thermal analyzer (STA) was used to observe the transition and degradation events of LiNO3, NaNO3, KNO3, and binary NaNO3-KNO3 salts for potential use as phase change materials (PCMs) and heat transfer fluid (HTF). Samples were heated from 50 °C to 800 °C at 10 °C/min scanning rate in three atmospheres (argon, air, and oxygen) using an ...

Topotaxial decomposition of calcite-type KNO3 crystals

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1980
Abstract The calcite-like form of potassium nitrate, KNO3, decomposed under the transmission electron microscope to form KNO2 which subsequently decomposed giving the high-temperature β form of K2O. Two closely related orientation relations were observed for KNO2.

The phase diagram of KNO3 to 40 kbars

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1965
The phase diagram of KNO3 was determined by differential thermal analysis to 40 kbars and 600°C. Three new polymorphs, KNO3 V, VI, VII, were found. The melting curve passes through a broad maximum at 6.4 kbars, possibly through a second one at 11 kbars, and then rises steeply with increasing pressure.
